I finally made a cowl. I've never really seen the point of them, but I always thought they looked quite pretty. And now that summer is upon us (meaning rain, clouds, some sun, at a about 15C) I decided it's time for a cowl..
A cowl is essentially (and indeed) just a tube. I want a very simple, not too long one, because the yarn I have is a) wool, and thus warm, and b) bright and colourful and very lovely, thus needing no embellishments.
I simply cast on 95 stitches, and knit in the round until the thing was about 10.5 inches long. Then I bound off.
Yarn: Twilleys of Stamford Freedom Spirit, shade 513 (bought at Oban)
Needles: 4mm
Took me about 1 1/2 hours to make. A fun quick project. Nice and warm, and very pretty!
It reminds me of Scotland - the heather in full bloom. Green like the forests and grass, purple like the heather, grey and white like the clouds....
I love this cowl and am dying to make a few to give as gifts. Can you please tell me what length circular needles us used. Thank you so much!
